Biography

Phil Hogan was a member of the Irish Parliament for 27 years.

He served as Chairman of Fine Gael party and director of organisation during its most successful years from 2002 to 2011 which culminated in his appointment as Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government in the government led by Enda Kenny as Taoiseach. Phil Hogan became Eu President of Environment Council in 2013 during Irelands presidency of EU Council.

In 2014, he was nominated as EU Commissioner for Agriculture and rural development where he played a major role to reform the CAP and make it more supportive of environmental challenges as well as food security objectives. Food exports and employment increased substantially during his term of office.

In 2019, Phil Hogan was nominated as EU Commissioner for Trade.
